As part of the effort to support our members, we offer a Membership Career Development (MCD) program to assist: • Members currently in transition; • Members likely to be in transition or considering a move in the near future, and; • Members who are interested in improving their networking and job search skills. Meetings: SIM Boston MCD meets once a month, either in person or by conference call. Our intention is each meeting includes job sharing and networking opportunities plus an expert on relevant topics for job seekers. These meetings are open to all SIM Boston members. We encourage anyone willing to help or those considering a new career opportunity to attend. Buddy System: The Membership Career Development committee members are available to be a “buddy” to help those in transition or considering a move. Such help includes advice on networking or resume, preparing for an interview or in other ways assisting a fellow SIM BOSTON • www.simboston.org SIM Boston member. Jobs Board: SIM Boston MCD has a small jobs board of senior IT openings at the companies of other members. Additionally, participants have the option to sign up for the SIM International Yahoo Jobs group. The group is open to all women in IT. The goal of this group is to provide opportunities for women to discuss topics of interest specific to women or from a women’s point of view. The group is an avenue for women to network with other professionals to promote communication, mentorship, leadership and career development amongst women in IT. Meetings are held four times a year in the early evening. Non-members of SIM and SIM Women are encouraged to attend. Membership in SIM Women is voluntary and defined as being a member of SIM, having been a member of SIM Boston or a direct report to a member of SIM. Those wishing to participate should contact the SIM Boston Chapter Administrator Kate Carroll (kcarroll@simboston.org) to be placed on the SIM Women mailing list. “I’ve purposely grown my local peer network through SIM Boston.
